Pastel Society AGM

The AGM will again take place in the Ulster Museum, Botanic Gardens, Belfast, on Sat 7th May at 11.30 in the Belfast Room. This year a number of committee members are not eligible for re-election as they have served the maximum number of years allowed. They are Patricia McDermott our outgoing Treasurer. Our Secretary Anne Black, Millie Moore and Robert Graham. On behalf of the society I extend our heartfelt thanks to you all for your hard work over the years which has made the society such a success. This is a very important AGM as we have to elect a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary so I hope you will make a special effort to attend as your participation is important for the future of the society. The job of secretary has traditionally been an arduous one. Last year the committee looked at all the work undertaken by the secretary and felt that it was too much for one person. The result is that the post of secretary has been divided into 3 jobs.

1. The Secretary looks after minutes and agendas.

2. Workshop co-ordinator

3.Newsletter and mailings Kay Cullen has done an excellent job of organising the workshops this year and is willing to continue in this role for another year with help from Roberta Lindsey, which is good news for all of us. Catherine McKeever has produced this years newsletters and looked after workshop mailings. She is also willing to continue for this incoming year. This leaves the post of Secretary a less time consuming role and hopefully more attractive post. For those attending the AGM who want to make a day of it, the museum is showing an exhibition of
sequined and beaded dresses from its collection called ‘Putting on the Glitz. Another exhibition on show is called ‘After the Bomb’, a collection of post war international art. You may also like to visit the Ormeau Baths Gallery which is holding an exhibition called ‘Into The Black’.
The exhibition brings together the work of two artists Neil Shawcross and Charles Walsh who explore black in different ways and for different reasons.
