UNTUTORED LIFE DRAWING SESSIONS
These weekly sessions led by professional life model, Clare Broom, will provide an opportunity to draw or paint from a model. They will also offer a chance to meet and get to know other artists in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
SUITABILITY: Experienced artists | DATES: Mondays, 2-5pm. Beginning Monday 4 February | FEE: £15 per session
TUTORED LIFE DRAWING (IN ASSOCIATION WITH DRAW ON LIFE)
Sharon Kelly ARUA will lead participants through the essential elements of life drawing in this 8-week structured course with professional life modeling by Clare Broom. You will be encouraged to respond to the figure using a variety of drawing approaches and media.
SUITABILITY: Beginners and those wishing to refresh their skills | DATES: Thursdays, 11am – 1pm. Beginning Thursday 7 February | FEE: £120
PAINTING THE CITY
In this 8 week course Gary Devon RUA will address issues of painting the cityscape: the consideration of form, light’s effect on architecture, perspective, composition, the possible inclusion of the figure and the broader scene versus ‘the close-up’.
SUITABILITY: Beginners and those wishing to refresh their skills | DATES: Tuesdays, 10am-1pm. Beginning Tuesday 12 February | FEE: £120
James Hanley RHA will target challenges in portrait painting in this one-day master class for artists seeking to improve their portraiture skills. With over 80 commissioned portraits completed to date, Hanley’s portraits range from the personal, individual and relaxed, to the official formal portraits required by corporations, institutions and the State.

LUNCHTIME LECTURES (FREE)
Members of the Academy will discuss the predominant themes in their work, methodology and the development of their careers to date. Lectures will take place on the last Wednesday of the month at 12.30pm.

All workshops and lectures take place at the RUA’s premises on the 9th Floor of River House, 48 High St Belfast. To book a place please download the attached booking form and return to the RUA together with a 50% deposit to secure your place. Please note that full payment must be made two weeks in advance of the workshop start date.
To attend the Untutored Life Drawing sessions held on Mondays please phone/email the RUA office by the preceding Wednesday. Payment of £15 must be made at the start of each session.
Booking is not required for our Lunchtime Lectures. Please make your way to the 9th Floor of River House on the designated dates. Attendance is free of charge.
